Calculator: day of the year by date
This application determines the ordinal day number in the year for any selected date. You enter a specific day, month, and year, and the tool calculates which day of the year it is.
How Days Are Counted
Counting always starts on January 1st. The first day of the year is assigned number 1. Subsequent dates add up the number of days that have passed. December ends on day 365.
In leap years, when February has 29 days, the total number of days increases to 366. Starting from March 1st of a leap year, the ordinal number of each day will be one greater compared to a regular year. The calculator automatically accounts for leap years in its calculations.
If you enter January 1st of any year, the result will always be 1. When selecting December 31st in a regular year, the tool will show 365, and in a leap year – 366.
